Recently, Counter Kicks had the privilege of visiting Reebok Headquarters in Canton, MA and met with Paul Litchfield, Reebok Vice President of Advanced Concepts and Reebok Pump creator. A phenomenal meeting, Mr. Litchfield personally gave Counter Kicks a behind-the-scenes look at some old-school samples and new-school developments (all very hush-hush for the moment, of course).
Today, we bring you a select handful of photos from our visit, including 3 never-before-seen original Reebok Pump prototypes.
Many thanks to Paul Litchfield, Darcy McQuiggan, Jenny Shanley, Jessie Carney, as well as all of the many gracious developers and designers at Reebok. Continue reading for the original Reebok Pump prototype photos.

Great shots of the protos. Interesting to see the Pump was originally placed on the side of the shoe.
Thanks for posting this! Always love seeing sample kicks and info like that. Any hints on the hush-hush stuff?? JK
the teal one is pretty cool. sounds like a fun trip
Very cool photos. The way the Pump ultimately ended up looks the best so they were right in keeping those prototypes. Bet it was cool to see in person.
how big is Reebok HQ? only place i ever saw pics inside of is Nike. looks like you could do sum damage at that employee store
Wish I could get a tour at Reebok. Lol
prototype pics are really cool. design from sample to release sure changed alot huh
That’s a trip I would have paid to go on. Paul Litchfield is a sneaker legend.
waw, man, thanks for this one..I really love that!
good stuff on the trip
The proto’s look great, always been a fan of having the Pump on the side, it’s the best spot to create the custom fit.
I hope they’ll release some more pumps in the future.
^^They were hinting about a next generation Pump system during the Pump20 campaign last year. Would definitely be cool to see new implementations of the technology.

I used to be a designer at Reebok and while the campus is not as big and grand as Nike, it is still a really BIG place. You get used to it after awhile but sometimes I would step back and think “I can’t believe I work here!”
