This Thursday, May 13th, New Balance will launch its Sonic Welded Collection at Fred Segal in Santa Monica, California. The collection includes a men’s New Balance 574 in three colorways and a women’s New Balance 410. The 574 will release in Brown Suede/Neon Orange, Black Suede/Electric Blue, and Grey Suede/Neon Yellow. The 410 will release in Brown Suede/Neon Yellow. Each shoe has been produced using Sonic Welding, an application of heat and pressure that bonds the shoe’s components together in an airtight and watertight manner. This process minimizes sewing, eliminates gluing, and reduces material waste. New Balance claims it is the first brand to utilize Sonic Welding for athletic footwear manufacture.
