John Wall is now officially a member of the Washington Wizards and also the newest pitchman and face for Reebok basketball. Signing a multi-year, multi-million dollar endorsement deal before playing his first NBA game, this 6’4 guard from Raleigh, N.C. accomplished what most hoops and sneaker fanatics can only dream. John Wall took time with CounterKicks away from his busy 2010 NBA Draft week schedule to share a couple tidbits about the brand new Reebok ZigTech Slash, his next signature shoe model, and his new Reebok family. Continue reading for the full interview scoop with John Wall…

CounterKicks: What made you choose Reebok?
John Wall: I chose Reebok because it feels like family. They believed in my potential way back when I was just trying to make a name for myself. The fact that I’ll be the face of the Zig basketball shoe makes it even sweeter.
CK: What were your favorite basketball sneakers growing up?
Wall: I was a huge fan of the Questions.

CK: What was it about the design of the Zig Slash that you liked?
Wall: I liked the bottom a lot because it makes you stand out on the court and they’re really comfortable. It’s the zig bottom that makes the difference. It’s comfortable and it gives you more energy so you can train and play longer. They look cool too.
CK: How does it compliment your style of play?
Wall: It fits me perfect. It gives me support and cushion when I go vertical, great stability when I move laterally and they’re light so I feel faster.

CK: Have you met with the Reebok designers yet on creating your first signature shoe?
Wall: Yes, it’s already in the works. Working on and designing your shoe is every kid’s dream.
CK: Reebok basketball really hasn’t had a face since Allen Iverson was in his prime, how does it feel knowing that you’ll be filling those shoes?
Wall: It’s a huge honor and I just thank God for just having this opportunity.

CK: What do you think you can contribute to an NBA team?
Wall: Any team I go to will get an extremely hard worker, someone who never wants to take a day off, loves to play the game and is dedicated to winning.
CK: How do you deal with the pressure of entering the league with all of this attention surrounding you?
Wall: I just stay humble and hungry and keep in mind that I’m fortunate to be in this position.

CK stay scooping everyone lately!! Number 1 pick John Wall interview on draft day? Dope!
Great interview, I can’t wait to see his sig’s, and untill then I love the look of his Zigs, those White/Black/Blue’s must release.
Nice read!…let’s see what the Zigs do for Wall. I gotta guess they will keep the Zig technology onto his first sig shoe too and maybe switch it up if they got more tech up their sleeves like they did with the AI line.
I’m excited to see this become official. Wall at Reebok makes a lot more sense then Wall at Nike. They can both do bigger things for each other. Props on the interview CK
Dope, I think it’s a good fit for both sides. Reebok design team, let’s GO now!!
would be cool to see some player exclusive Questions for Wall. Wiz colorways would look pretty nice
Fresh stuff ,congrats to Wall on being the first pick! Gonna be fun to watch him play in the League
I’m really interested to see how the Zig Slash performs. With Iverson practially out now this signing with J-Wall looks like it could be a super nice matchup.
Good luck to Wall. Thx for the interview.
those white and blue Zigs from the photoshoot are fresh. hope those are coming out
Awesome. Gotta get League Pass this season to catch all the Wizards games!
Tight interview. Like how dedicated Wall is. We gonna see it this Fall!
That Zig shirt Wall is wearing in the first pic at stores right now?
cannot Wait to see how the Wall signature shoe looks like. Hope we get some nice colors for the Zig Slash shoe to match up with the Wiz unis. all metallic Gold with blue hits FRESH
JOHN WALL RULES! DMV NEEDED THIS!!!!
happy for wall he made it after all hes been through. this is a good story
Wish the shoes looks a little faster and lower cut for Wall’s playing style but I think these have a chance to do well if Wall kills it as a rookie. Next sig shoe will really show the direction of his line IMO. This is a great arrangement for Reebok and Wall though when it’s all said and done. Great interview exclusive!
Good read im happy for jimmy
Start of something big!!
I hope the Zigs play good for basketball, I got the runners and they feel nice
Thanks for the interview. Always got fresh posts here
Wall/Reebok makes the most dollars and sense. I am glad he didnt go to Nike because they would underutilize him like they do Durant. Too many faces. This is perfect for Wall. He just gotta play like an all-star now and the rest will be history!
Great interview CK
So nice to see how JWall treatin the fans and signing autographs for everyone during summer ball. Good dude, hope he gets his this year. ROY comin for it!
GOOD read!
