Event Recap: Nike World Basketball Festival x Rucker Park

The Nike World Basketball Festival took over Rucker Park from August 13th-14th, drawing in large crowds to “celebrate the creativity that surrounds the game and the inspiration, attitude, and athleticism that defined it.” The court itself was redone with glistening hardwood, sporting a teal World Basketball Festival design. The Battle of the Boroughs championship was played out between Team Brooklyn and Team Bronx, with play by play announcing by legend Joe Pope, and DJ Clark Kent on the ones and twos.

Inside the park, one could find the Festival Clubhouse which featured a temporary tattoo station, a gaming area with multiple Xbox 360 stations and comfortable seating, as well as a barber shop, and a Nike iD station. There was also a Festival Store that carried all sorts of WBF gear, national basketball gear, and a station for customizing Nike apparel. Lastly, there was a tent for visitors to show off their moves against a green screen to simulate playing on the Rucker Park court. Check out the multiple shots CounterKicks took at Rucker Park this past weekend. Continue reading for detailed images of the Nike World Basketball Festival at Rucker Park.
