Li-Ning officially announced today a multi-year endorsement signing with Evan Turner of the Philadelphia 76ers. The deal marks a watershed moment for the emerging Chinese sportwear brands into the US market with this being a first deal rookie signing – with the No. 2 NBA draft pick no less. News broke live at around 1:45 EST on CNBC with Darren Rovell who was accompanied by Turner alongside Brian Cupps, Li-Ning Director of Brand Initiative for Basketball, and David Falk, Turner’s agent and of Nike/Michael Jordan fame.
Eric Miller, lead designer on the Baron Davis product line, will also head up Evan Turner’s Li-Ning signature line. We’ve been told Turner’s official logo has already been created and signature footwear is in the works. Turner will begin promoting Li-Ning’s fall 2010 basketball models with debut signature product launching in 2011. More info to come as it develops.
