The Air Jordan line is rebooted. Again.
Released in February 1990, Air Jordan V was a completely new take on Michael Jordan. Aesthetically, nothing was carried over from Air Jordan IV except for the Jumpman logo. Designer Tinker Hatfield translated Jordan’s style and fighter plane-like attacking method as a mid-cut, asymmetical-collared shoe with a 3M reflective tongue, mesh side vents, midsole shark’s teeth, and a translucent rubber outsole.
Air Jordan V moved the line forward, symbolizing Michael Jordan’s growth as a player on the cusp of validating championship aspirations.
