Greivis Vasquez x Under Armour.
When 23-year-old Greivis Vasquez was selected 28th overall pick by the Memphis Grizzlies in the 2010 NBA draft, he became only the third Venezuelan-born player in the league following Carlos Herrera and Oscar Torres. A common thread he continued with from his University of Maryland playing days? Under Armour on his feet.
Here’s a look at Vasquez’s player exclusive collection in the unreleased Under Armour Prototype I. The shoes feature Memphis Grizzlies team colors along with a rooted connection to Vasquez’s home country as seen on the heel pull tab and tongue lace keeper highlighting the color stripes of the Venezuelan flag. The number 21 can be seen on the lateral heels of all three styles, with “Venezuela’s Finest” embroidered on the tongue.
Growing up playing streetball in Caracas to now hitting the hardwood of the NBA must be a great feeling for Vasquez and his family. With an Under Armour endorsement deal inked over the summer, Vasquez will continue balling in UA sneaks for the foreseeable future.
