Literally. Scores two points.
To say that Gilbert Arenas is having a tough time getting settled into the Orlando Magic system is being polite. It’s not going well. The one tell-tale way to gauge Gil’s overall game is his scoring. If he’s hitting, he’s on his game. But he’s not hitting lately. In his 21 games with the Wizards this season, he averaged 17.3 points. In his 16 games with the Magic, he’s averaged 8.8 points. Granted, his role is somewhat reduced in Orlando but serious injury aside he hasn’t struggled this way since… ever. Last night, Gil turned in 2 points, 1 rebound, and 1 assist in the White/Varsity Royal-Black Nike Air Penny II. Thank God for Gil’s crazy kicks season. In that aspect, he’s the runaway MVP. Has any player’s footwear ever rendered his on-court performance irrelevant? Just a few seasons ago, people eagerly checked highlights and box scores to see how many points Arenas dropped. Now, we just want to know what shoes he has on.
In other kicks action, Ray Allen broke out his “Ring Ceremony” White/Gold-Green Air Jordan XI’s again, Nick Young unboxed some blue Nike Zoom Kobe VI iD’s, Jason Kidd clung to his PEAK Kidd II’s, and Monta Ellis knocked down a game-winning shot against the Pacers in his blue AND1 Disciple’s.
