TOM LUEDECKE
Senior Footwear DesignerTom Luedecke is a Senior Footwear Designer for Jordan Brand, a division of NIKE, Inc., and co-designer of the AIR JORDAN 2011. In his current role, Luedecke is responsible for creating innovation platforms and designing performance footwear based on athlete insight and biomechanical research.
Luedecke began his career with Nike in 2003 as an Innovator in the Innovation Kitchen. In August 2010, he was promoted to Senior Footwear Designer with Jordan Brand. His contributions include ground-breaking footwear designs such as the Nike Zoom Kobe VI, Nike Zoom Trainer 1, Nike Hyperdunk and Nike Free, as well as the launch of laser-cut technology.
A native of Jueterbog, Germany, Luedecke received his Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, CA. The son of two engineers and the grandson of a shoemaker and graphic designer, Luedecke jokes being a shoe designer is part of his genetic makeup. He is drawn to the challenge of balancing art and soul with engineering and science in his designs.
