McTaj’s: 2 Served.
The Bulls got three key jumps on the Heat in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals: A 1-0 series lead, and two huge dunks by reserve power forward Taj Gibson. The first crush came at 10:42 in the 2nd quarter as C.J. Watson found a trailing Taj on a 3-on-1 fastbreak. Gibson planted both of his Nike Air Max Fly By‘s, leapt, and wrecked over a contesting Dwyane Wade. And 1. The second dunk was a one-handed, Dominique Wilkins-esque putback with 38 seconds left the game, which the Bulls of course won, 103-82. Taj finished with 9 points, 7 boards, 2 assists and 2 blocks. Derrick Rose (adidas adiZero Rose 1.5) did his work early and often, pouring in 28 points, while Carlos Boozer (Nike Hyperdunk 2010) and Luol Deng (Nike Air Max Fly By) chipped in 14 and 21, respectively. Chris Bosh (Nike Air Max Hyperdunk 2010) led Miami with 30 and 9, and Wade (Jordan Fly Wade) notched 18 to go along with LeBron’s (Nike LeBron 8 PS) 15. We’ll see who gets dunked on in Game 2 Wednesday night.
In OKC, the Thunder ran the Grizzlies back into the woods of Memphis, taking the game 105-90 and the series 4-3. Kevin Durant (Nike Zoom KD III) was aggressive from the tip-off, racking up 39 points and 9 rebounds. Russell Westbrook (Nike Zoom Hyperfuse 2011) added 14 and James Harden (Nike Zoom Hyperfuse Low) came off the bench for 17. Memphis was again led by the efforts of Zach Randolph (Nike Air Max Fly By) with 17 and 10, and Mike Conley (adidas adiZero Crazy Light) with 18. The Thunder travel to Dallas to take on the Mavs in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals Tuesday night.
