Derrick’s Fall 2011 shoes.
Coming off an MVP season, Derrick Rose takes flight again this Fall in the adidas adiZero Rose 2.
The shoe matches D-Rose’s ascent into stardom with high performance attributes coupled with heightened styling details, dialed down to individual themes and colorways. adiZero Rose 2 centers on a “Flight” storyline, best exemplified by its sockliner graphic which mimics destinations on an airport monitor with NBA city names like Los Angeles, Boston, and New York, all reading “CANCELLED”. The only city highlighted is Chicago, which reads “CLEARED FOR FLIGHT”. In effect, Rose let people know he could be MVP this last season, and he’s raising the stakes for the next run making his competition aware in advance that their plans, their flights, their aspirations to win against Rose are all being cancelled.
adiZero Rose 2 returns with a Sprint Frame base and collar-fit story like the original adiZero Rose 1. The ankle gore straps feature was inspired by an adidas Y3 lifestyle shoe Rose liked.
Each colorway of the adiZero Rose 2 features different textile finishes. The Black/Red/White “Bulls” home style exhibits a full-grain, thick fissure leather – another style detail D-Rose himself wanted. The “Christmas” Rose 2 or “Gucci” colorway as it’s being nicknamed online shows off a synthetic “hardwood” embossing thoughout the upper which bears resemblance to luxury grained Epi Leather. A triple black “swat team” style dresses down with matted paint and extra durable material choices. And this year’s Grey/Blue/Yellow “Simeon Career Academy” high school model receives a digitized abstract city emboss on the toe, heel and tongue to pay tribute to the Southside of Chicago. Running your fingers over the surface of the digital emboss resembles the tactile feel of braille.
