An oasis emerges in the arid desert of 2011 NBA Finals kicks.
Looks like our NBA Finalists finally got the variety-is-the-spice-of-life message. After two games of doze inducing same-olds from both teams, the Heat decided to let their hair down and wear something different. It didn’t make anyone score 50 but it did add a bit extra excitement to an already thrilling Game 3. Miami won, 88-86, thanks in part to red Nike Air Max Hyperdunk 2010-sporting Chris Bosh’s J from the left wing with 39.6 in the fourth. But the shoes! Color! Variety! Two of the league’s superstars finally got nice colorways for the Finals!
LeBron and D-Wade, holding to what we showed you they’d wear in Game 3, donned super red versions of their signatures. Bron was good for 17 points but he played playmaker with 9 assists in his Red/White-Yellow Nike LeBron 8 PS, some of which helped Wade score 29 points in his similarly colorblocked Jordan Fly Wade‘s. Fellow Heaters and Jordan Brand proxies Mike Bibby and Juwan Howard were also issued this edition of the Fly, while Mike Miller wore a red pair of Nike Zoom KD III. And with all this color fun slangin’ around, why limit it to Nike/Jordan Brand? The “Hollywood As Hell” Heat have to be fashionably coordinated. So Mario Chalmers repped a Red/White style of the adidas adiZero Crazy Light and Udonis Haslem rocked steady in Red/White patent leather Converse SICKS. The bright red shoes probably helped Miami hold off another Dallas comeback. No way to verify that assertion. I just think it. Facetiously.
The Mavs may have suffered from a case of the shoe blahs. They all wore their same colorways of the same old shoes. Dirk in Nike Hyperdunk 2010‘s, Kidd in PEAK Kidd III‘s, Marion in Nike Air Max Fly By‘s, Jet in Reebok Zig Slash‘s. Look what happened. Trailed most of the game. Couldn’t keep Bosh from mimicking a shooting guard in the closing seconds. Lost.
Cool shoes = fun on the court. Same old shoes = boring yourself into a crucial loss.
While you’re making of that what you will, check out all the red kicks and the non-red kicks in the NBA Kicks Game 3 recap…
