Kobe Bryant Dumps On Derrick Rose’s adidas Shoes

Verbal dumping.

After warmly complimenting John Wall on his shoe brand of choice last year, Kobe Bryant extended his vocal chords in praise of Derrick Rose’s adidas adiZero Crazy Light shoes, saying:

“If you wanna break your foot, wear that shit.”

Cool. But maybe Kobe doesn’t recall tweaking his own foot and ankle in his signature low top Nike shoes just recently against the New Orleans Hornets in this past season’s 2011 NBA Playoffs. Whatever. The YouTube uploader who captured this video also commented on his video page, adding context:

“just to clarify to everyone im not saying kobes talking shit on d-rose or the company, people think hes´╗┐ playing, but before this video he kept saying how much better his shoe is and that high-tops suck and hurt your ankle, then i started recording and he said this hahaha hes ONLY talking about the shoes calm down people”

So just calm down and watch the Kobe shit talking ahead…

Not a year for Kobe to talk trash about anybody’s shoes, but his own, his ankle got messed up, his knee needed plasma treatment, and he disappeared to get SWEPT by the Mavs……..

@Nene33, An ankle injury sometimes can not be avoided no matter what sneakers you’re wearing.

And since you mentioned Kobe’s injury, what about your boy Rose’s injury against the Pacers where his Crazy Lights almost came off his feet? He didn’t even wear them again after that. Goes to show you how much better his 1.5′s were. And for the record I don’t think the Kobe’s are the best shoe out there but IMO are a superior shoe to the crazy lights.

Oh, I get that, Kobe tweaked his ankles in open court though, and needed serious medical treatment, Rose tweaked his ankle, but could still play, once he changed shoes, and he did not have ‘plasma-treatment’ in Germany.

All I was saying, is that you don’t talk trash about someone else’s shoes, especially if you just had a legendary defeat(first SWEEP under Phil Jackson) because you couldn’t show up, after hurting yourself……in the shoes you’re boasting about.

About the superior shoe, that all depends on who you are, fact remains, just as much as the Crazy Light weren’t Rose’s shoes, the Zoom Kobe VI wasn’t Kobe’s.

The Lakers didn’t lose because Kobe didn’t show up, they lost as a team. Kobe can talk all he wants about the other guys shoes, he has won 2 out of the last 3 championships in his low top Nike’s.

Plus his knee problem is due to wear and tear from all the games and championships he’s won, not from his shoes.

Ah, there’s the Kobe fanboy I been waiting for.

Of course Kobe didn’t show up, Kobe averaged 3pts in the 4th quarter of the last 2 games(taking 7 shots total, 5 in game 3, 2 in game 4), that’s what’s called failing on a major level(almost LeBron-esque), and that’s how you get swept with one of the most prolific scorers in the league on your team.

Of course it’s his shoes, too little support for too long, will cause that wear, and tear(in heavier shoes, Kobe wasn’t injured that much, now was he).

Jordan could 3-Peat twice, it was in mid’s, and he didn’t wreck himself in the process.

Why do you think DRose wears the Speedwraps?? He knows his ankle are in danger. I wore those Adidas once. No cushioning and no ankle stability.

@Nene, yeah but MJ broke his ankle in hightops back in ’85. He didn’t tweaked, or sprain his ankle, he broke it. Ankle support doesn’t come from wearing high tops it comes from locking your heel properly.

I have been playing with my D.Rose 1.0 and never twisted my ankle anymore. Note that I’ve twisted my ankle many times previously with my Nike Zoom Air. :)

@ Rob, it’s very simple, less shoe = less protection = higher injury risk.

Rose wears his SpeedWraps, and Kobe has a Triple-bandage of tape(yep, TRIPLE), so both wear extra protection.

There’s no 100% safety, but less shoe always raises the wear, and tear, and always raises the risk of injury.

And at the end of the day, Kobe was gone against the Mavs, where Rose went down shooting v. Heat. Which means nobody should be talking trash.

And ask any Orthopedic surgeon, less shoes is always more risky, it’s why they don’t do pressure-bandage, over plaster-cast, when you have a heavy bone-fracture.

Kobe always does this when his game is down.
