The New Balance Minimus story is a tale of stripping down a shoe to its essentials. It’s also a tale of cutting the sole off that shoe, as ultramarathoner Anton Krupicka did to get his feet super close to the earth and its multi-terrain surfaces. And it’s the journey of how New Balance senior designer Chris Wawrousek helped put it all together to develop the New Balance Minimus Zero Sole. Chris shows off four different key shoes in the process – Anton Krupicka’s self-modified NB MT100′s, an MT100 hybrid with a pre-Minimus prototype sole, a pair of NB Minimus Trail runners, and the new NB Minimus Zero Trail – and a video documenting various test pair configurations below. You can get the full scoop on the concept development of New Balance’s Minimus Zero Sole here. Road, trail, and wellness editions of NB Minimus Zero are set to hit retail in March 2012.
