You Have Until 7PM Friday To Pay Your Final Respects To NikeTown Portland

R.I.P. NT PDX.

The original NikeTown, launched in Portland on November 21, 1990, is heading to retail heaven at the end of this week.

As Allan Brettman details in a story on The Oregonian today, the cutting edge concept shop which served as something of a corporate church showcasing the Swoosh brand and bestowing checkmarked footwear and apparel to its loyal followers and onlookers alike, is coming to an end. You have until this Friday at 7PM to make your final donations and offerings.

Don’t be sad, though. A new concept store named Nike Portland will take its place, spiritually, on November 4 with a location at 638 S.W. Fifth Avenue in PDX.

Yes these original is coming to an end. I have been buying from there since I was 11 years old back in 1991. I grew up there! That’s ok though. The new store is 3 times larger. Its two floors with an optional 3rd floor for expansion. Fingers crossed they have an ID station. Portland is where it started yet we have always been last when it comes to releases. From what I heard we should be able to hang with some of the bigger stores such as New York, Chicago, and LA. Hopefully they do it right and make it real special! Portland deserves it. We’ve waited long enough!!!!!
