Zoom Kobe VII And Its Removable Midsole/Ankle Sock

Kobe VII revealed.

If you’ve been waiting to get a razor sharp view of the new Nike Zoom Kobe VII, your day has arrived. 16 photos of the next Kobe Bryant signature in a launch “inline” style have arrived. The images show off amenities like a Flywire support upper, external TPU heel counter, partial herringbone traction outsole, and a removable midsole with ankle sock support that adjusts in and out of the shoe. MarqueeSole is selling a few sizes early now if you want to pay for the privilege of getting the Kobe VII early.

So there is no tongue in this shoe?

I believe there is a separate sock with the tongue. Either you have the “tongue” or the ankle support.

Looked at it again and it looks like there is already a tongue and the top part of the ankle sock goes around the tongue.:)

Hope that bootie is pretty stretchy. Top of my foot is super swollen all the time from surgeries. I have a feeling these aren’t gonna work at all for me.

Without further background knowledge and merely basing off of the pictures alone, the purpose of the removable mid-sole is for the option of installing the ankle sock?

Looks cool. The only thing that bothers me about Kobe’s is the durability for outdoor play. I that this shoe isn’t intended to withstand the rigors of outdoor play, but its cool when a shoe brings that durability to the table. In the interest of cutting as much weight as possible and still including zoom air, I understand.

I know they had the option on ID for the XDR? outsole, but your obviously paying a premium for that. Ah well.

There’s no significant change from the kobe VI, looks like a low top shoe, but it feels like nike is forcing things a bit too much by using the ankle straps. so why create a low top shoe then? why don’t create a high top, with so much better protection and structure and i think they get the inspiration from erik koston’s sb shoes.

Looks like I’m getting myself a second pair of Kobe VIs for the coming year. Im cool on the entire design UP UNTIL I got to ankle brace midsole / insole combo. If I take those out myself then I have no tongue even if I were to replace the insole. Oh well, it was a cool design until Nike tried a lil too hard to be unique on this one.
