Jordan Melo M8 Dissected In 63 Photos

Melo’d out.

The latest in a series of not-so-random acts of cutting, the Black/Metallic Silver-Dark CharcoalĀ Melo M8 goes under the knife, scissor, and band saw in the name of shoe science. Or really just wanting to see what $135 worth of M8 material looks like.

The unraveling starts with the simplest of seams before pulling, snipping, ripping, and slicing commences. Exposing the cushioning, in this case visible Max Air in the heel and caged forefoot Zoom Air, is always neat-o.

So kick back and peruse the pics from the comfort and safety of your non-industrial-tool-laden space.

The Jordan Melo M8 is available now at Jordan spots everywhere.

That’s quite terrible actually, so Jordan FlyWire is basically just stuck onto an already build shoe…..no function, all hype. :(

And is that a bad-angle, or is the Zoom basically a silicone pack on these, instead of a construction of pillars, and gas?

These pictures are interesting but are not complete.
In example you don’t have a full length section of the midsole to see heel to toe profile. The zoom bag has not been dissected in the right point to show the structure inside, as well as the max bag in the heel which has not been put apart and dissected. Same thing can be said about flywire…are there cables below the external skin, or is it just a a molded part? Pictures don’t show all this…
@ nene: the thing below the flywire is the inner lining…it’s the (almost) seamless coverage you have inside the shoe just above your sock, it doesn’t have ANY support function, it just protects the foot from external upper stitches and gives you comfort while soaking and dissipating (eventually) your sweat. The supportive part of the upper is made by flywire panels stitched with patent leather/ nubuck parts.

@pflite – thats the complete point of this dissection.. Nike tells their customers that their products have this and that and some of that so you have to pay this much….. but upon closer inspection, NADA..

@ urriah: let me be more clear about my point…this dissection seems done by someone who doesn’t fully understand footwear, or by someone who really doesn’t want to show all the details. I.e. zoom bag is dissected right in the point where two sectors are linked, the zoom structure IS NOT dissected! You don’t see a full length sole/midsole dissection to show how the thickness changes along profile and the exact placement of the bags below the foot. All things a footwear expert wants to appreciate and study.
To be honest you can’t say flywire, zoom bag, max bag, ect, aren’t there…you see them here! What did you expect they would look like?
Then coming to Jordans pricing, and these techs real effectivity, buying or not it’s just your choice…

Very nice, and I agree side photo is needed.

@ Pflite, there’s way too many layers for the FlyWire to be anything else than window-dressing.

And it’s not a weird question, to wanna see the Zoom, Jordan XX3′s ended up having a ‘gel-pad’ thickness Zoom(that had no effect for heavier players), and no IPS, where all the advertisement kept pushing it as IPS, with Zoom.

When you compare the side view of the visible Zoom, with for instance, the Zoom in the Flight Club, this still looks suspiciously like a gel-pad, not a true Zoom bag.
