Maine born and bred.

New Balance is notable for its focus on fitting the runner with multiple widths and making sure comfort comes first. The brand even assigns model numbers rather than catchy names to shoes because it’s all about substance over style. Well, almost.

The New Balance Custom Made In The USA program launched in April 2011 with the ever popular 574, giving fans their first chance at making an NB to their exact liking.

Now the brand’s flagship heritage shoe gets the treatment. The 993 can now be customized in up to 23 colors in 20 areas (including base, mesh, vamp, heel wrap and tongue), and personalized with up to 8 characters/letters per shoe and 15 colors of embroidery. Each shoe is handmade in NB’s Norridgewock, Maine factory and shipped out in 4 to 8 business days.

“The New Balance Custom 993 enables you to be the designer and choose from premium material and color options to personalize your own iconic New Balance 993, a legendary style from New Balance,” says Steve Gardner, Strategic Business Unit Manager for New Balance Lifestyle.  “Once you design your 993, our associates in Norridgewock will use their high quality craftsmanship to produce it for you.”
