Casting Call for Nike Commercial
Hi guys. My name is Justin Lee, and I’m an advertising student at Miami Ad School in Miami Beach, FL. I’m reaching out to all the ball players out there because I have an idea for a Nike commercial which I’d like to actually execute. It’s essentially a welcome back message to basketball, now that we’ve all been able to (hopefully) wash the taste of the lockout out of our mouths.
So what do I need from you guys?
Well, it’s simple. I want to capture the spirit of basketball from cities across America and show just how alive basketball was, and still is, despite the NBA’s labor situation. So what I need is short 5-10 second clips of you playing basketball and sending out a welcome message from your city to the world. That message is, ”Welcome to _________“, with the blank being your city. E.g. you guys out in Chicago could shoot a message from Murray Park saying “Welcome to Chicago”. NY players can hit up Rucker and give “Welcome to New York” greeting. Basically, you can shoot from any basketball court, park or playground, indoor or outdoor and say the line, “Welcome to [your city]“. The clips should be 5-10 seconds, and they will serve to identify your city and the basketball players that rep it.
I will collect all of the clips and turn it into a 60 second commercial (e.g. editing, writing, and art direction will be done here in Miami). And of course, anybody who is willing to send in a clip and rep their city will absolutely be credited and thanked for their efforts in the final product.
So please get out there and start playing! Think of creative ways to give your ”Welcome to _____” message, so that your city and its players are legitimately represented. The only requirement is that whomever is saying the line has to be speaking to the camera.
You can email me at justinlee1200@gmail.com and I will give you the easiest and most convenient way to send me video files. I will keep everyone who emails me up to date as to the progress of the commercial and most definitely notify you when it is ready.
I also plan on submitting this commercial to several global advertising award shows, so your clip has the potential to be seen by millions of people worldwide, or even Nike themselves! (Dream big!).
Thank you all for your help. Now go shoot!
Justin Lee
