Stay Lin-ning, my friends.
Jeremy Lin had to come down off his cloud.
His ascent started one week ago with 25 in a win over the Nets. Then it was 28 in a win over Utah. Then 23 in a win over Washington. Playing with the house’s money. Surely the Lakers, specifically Kobe Bryant, would tamp down this upstart, Harvard-degree-toting D-Leaguer’s extraordinary run. Not happening.
Lin doused the Lakers with a career high 38 points last night, tacking on another surreal performance and another W for the currently ragtag Knicks, 92-85. You’ll remember that the team has played without Amar’e Stoudemire for three of these last four Lin wins, and without Carmelo Anthony for two. Once, the team was slumping and now they’re streaking. Lin is the Knicks’ de facto leader and star at the moment. All this in seven short days, leaving the watching sports world agape. Part of the underdog appeal of Lin is his everyman demeanor. He goes out, plays, and keeps his mouth shut. Even his kicks over this run, the Nike Zoom Hyperfuse 2011 Low, are low-key.
Kobe showed up to play, even shifting into his 2006 “It’s my team” mode down the stretch to finish with 34. Just too much Lin at just the right time.
The Knicks are out in Minneapolis for tonight’s match with the T-Wolves. Does the supernatural streak continue? Stay Linned.
NBA Kicks ahead with Jeremy Lin doing work in the Hyperfuse ’11 Low (video highlights included), Iman Shumpert sparking in the adidas Top Ten 2000, Bill Walker answering with the Reebok Question, CP3.V doing heroics in the Jordan CP3.V, Jared Jeffries and Q-Rich in “Old Royal” AJ 10′s, Tyrus adoring his Flint 13′s again, and much more…
