Roger Federer’s Nike Shoe Explodes

Fed break.

An “exploded view” in footwear is just the same as it is in any other industry: a three-dimensional suspended diagram of component parts to an object or product.

In this case, Roger Federer stands and sits next to a blown up version of his new signature shoe, the Nike Zoom Vapor 9 Tour (penned by Tinker Hatfield on his iPad).

Fed is also captured in this video talking about how he’ll probably play in the new Vapor 9′s for “a couple of years” which should please tennis retailers and the Swoosh marketing team as they labor to push a new “tenth” version of his shoe next year while Roger imagines to pound away in his old, un-marketed ones. Are they not paying you enough, Fed? Get with the program! New shoes. Every year. NKE NKE NKE.

he’s actually saying he’s been using the same shoes for the past 2-3 years and he’s excited to be using these new shows for the next couple years.. That translates into he’s used different shoes every year with the same technologies for the past 3 years (lunar whatever) and he’s going to use this new technology (adaptive fit+zoom) for the next 2 years = V9 and V10 at least

For sure, it’s a new platform. It also makes for a fun narrative to hardline his comment too.

Looks cool! Makes me drool. Too bad the shoes is very expensive. Don’t take it the wrong way though, if I have the money I’d happily buy one for myself. They are surely worth it.
