Those Spalding basketball shoes we told you about and first showed you a while back? They’re out now to purchase. The kicks finally have a name too: Spalding Slash.
Better known for manufacturing orange spheres, Spalding is getting back into the footwear arena with the help of NBA endorsers Jimmer Fredette, Mario Chalmers, and Chris Singleton.
We were told last month about an estimated April launch for the shoes by Spalding. CounterKicks reader Jordan R. tipped us off by email (tips@counterkicks.com) that the Slash product is available already at Dick’s Sporting Goods online in three styles. They should also be stocked at Dick’s brick-and-mortar, Finish Line stores, and Shiekh Shoes on the west coast, but we’ve yet to hear about any in-store sightings yet. Let us know.
According to the official Spalding Slash product description, the new hoops sneaker is built with a lightweight mesh upper, high-abrasion carbon rubber outsole, and D30 shock absorption and rebound technology for cushioning and bounce. It all comes wrapped in a $90 price package.
The one discrepancy we see from the new Dick’s product photos to previously posted samples of the Slash is the inclusion of “JIMMER” along the lateral forefoot sidewall on all three colorways: White/Purple, Black/White, Black/Purple.
Maybe these are samples too and the final production version won’t carry that badging? We’ll let you know for sure very soon…

The tech might be good, but the shoe is honestly not-so-appealling…At $90, it’s gonna be a hard sell
I was just at Dicks a couple days ago and they don’t have em yet. I actually kinda like these. I’m alway willing to try something new. I’m sure I’ll end up with at least 1 pair as long as I can find size 14

Spalding trying to play with the big boys… I thought they were gonna stick with low price points like last time. $90 is way too much, for 5 more bucks I can get a pair of KD’s.
These are terrible, and look exactly like their Payless/Wal-Mart shoes. If you’re going to make a $90 you better make sure it looks like it…

these look horrible…the outsole is so cheaply designed and built, the upper? my god…how can a company throw money at such a venture and come up with a brick? no way…i only see Bill Gates or Mark Zuckeberg buying these
Does anyone know where i can get basketball leg tights at..jimmer wears them when practicing and other ball players wear them..if anyone knows i would appreciate if you would let me know
