
CK: Any bad trends you’ve spotted?
O’Malley: The part that makes me nervous is everybody jumping in trying to take advantage of trend or not enough knowledge out there for runners. Any time you change things you do need to make sure you do it responsibly. There’s a tremendous amount of responsibility on all brands to make sure that there’s a lot of education and information so that runners can find it.
CK: How have runners responded to the Hurricane 14 so far?
O’Malley: The response has just been tremendous. Our sell-through in our Triumph, Hurricane and Guide has been phenomenal, and reorders have been great. I just got back from Europe and traveling around, and about 99% of retailers are like, we really agree with what you’re doing. It’s fun to be on the cutting edge. People ask me if I had trouble sleeping before these things delivered because of all the changes. But we made the changes very responsibly, did a lot of testing, spent a lot of money to make sure runners would benefit from it and respond positively.
