Safe to say, Brett Golliff‘s previous podcast with Tinker Hatfield on Air Safari and the Nike “Air Pack” which helped save the Beaverton company back in the late 80s was a monster hit among people who follow sneakers.
Next up, Brett takes us inside a media pow-wow held at retailer DTLR in Washington, D.C. from this past weekend’s Nike World Basketball Festival events. Speaking in group format with other reporting outlets interviewing Chris Paul and Carmelo Anthony, here’s a slice of what B had to say about it:
It was my first time interviewing an athlete of their nature and it was an eye opening experience. It gave me a new found respect for how athletes are perceived by journalists and in return how the athletes see the journalists. Over the course of the weekend I was able to take in many interviews the players of Team USA gave and I can’t tell you how many times I heard the exact same questions. I really feel for those guys. So when I got the chance to ask my questions, I made sure they were original and what I hoped to be thought provoking.
Bold emphasis mine. Most everyone says it but few actually separate from the pack. And…
I would have loved to get a one on one opportunity with one of them to really break down their footwear and their expectations of their footwear but the time wasn’t right as their schedules were too full of practice and other obligations. I will get an interview with one of them in due time though, I can feel it!
Come on, Josh. Hook Brett up…
