It’s our nation’s capital. Washington D.C. Wining. Dining. Influence. Politics.
Footwear is no different.
The last team group shot for men’s USA Basketball involved the political maneuvering of Coach K surreptitiously covering up the 3-Stripes shoe mark of Dwight Howard, the lone non-Nike athlete. That’s what they say, anyways.
This year, less drama. All of Team USA’s bro athletes are affiliated with Nike, given that Derrick Rose and Dwight Howard are out. The feet followed too, with Nike pushing the new Hyperdunk 2012 onto near everyone on both men’s and women’s teams. The exceptions came with guys in their own signature shoes, like Kobe in Kobe VII, KD in KD IV, Melo in Melo M8, CP in CP3.V. Deron Williams, lone standout, chose a USA-flavored Hyperdunk 2011 low, while Coach K opted for USA colored Air Max 2009′s. On the women’s side, Jordan Brand athlete Maya Moore repped her affiliation with the Air Jordan 2012 Lite, sticking out against the sea of HD2012′s.
