CK: Who started the ball rolling on bringing Ewing back and when?
Goldberg: Ilan Friedman began the initial idea and journey years ago around 2005, and it initially led to several false starts and dead ends in trying to find the right connections. I was introduced through a few mutual friends and came on board about 2 years ago and we were fortunate enough to sit down with David Falk and Patrick and be able to partner with them on bringing the historic brand back. This was a perfect fit for me to come on board as I am probably the most knowledgeable person regarding the brand and the actual shoes and product, and I am a businessman as well.
CK: Were there any original molds and specifications available to re-create the 33 Hi?
Goldberg: There are no original molds or blueprints of any of the shoes, so we worked from dissection to learn how the shoe was made and to recreate the exact cut and materials. Since I have taken on the project of bringing back the Ewing brand I have been on the hunt for more models because we use them to dissect and deconstruct in order to make the retros 100% spot on in every facet. We also have many original catalogs to have a complete list of other colorways.

Great interview on the Ewing Athletics bringback.
Dave: have you guys discussed or have any plans to introduce NEW models into the Ewing line, or is this 100% a throwback/legacy only return?
Many thanks to David for all the info on EA’s return.
