A single photoshop concept image circulated the Sneakernets early this morning of a projected Air Jordan 5 release that featured an all-over elephant print style.
We have your very first look here at the actual shoe now, with all the relevant details.
Introducing the Air Jordan 5 “Elephant” (we’ll call it that for now, sparring future story developments).
Here’s the Elephant V backstory, as told to us by our sources: this model presented here is a “look-see” sample concept, designed and built in Beaverton out of the Jordan Brand offices. The look-see sample was then sent over to the sneaker manufacturing facilities in China for inspection and a check on potential production.
It’s a bit too early to say when exactly the Air Jordan 5 Elephant will hit retail accounts, given that it’s not in production just yet.
As for the outrageous part, the heritage Jordan Brand elephant print first made famous on the Air Jordan 3 is decked out here across the entire upper of the shoe and beneath the sole. It’s a daring style play. Bold in looks and execution. Don’t know how many will be able to pull it off without looking silly, but my initial take is that this will be one of the most hyped Jordan 5 releases ever, whenever Jordan Brand decides to release it into the wild.
The Elephant Jordan 5 carries with it all the stereotypical elements of a shameless and irreverent “sneakerhead” campout frenzied release. Just try not to get trampled in the process getting your pair…
