Mr. R Sports & Sneakerbox Venture Into 1973

Fans of Mr. R Sports and Sneakerbox will be happy to know that the two footwear staples are embarking upon a new venture that promises to expand on the reasons you already love each. Read on for the details behind the announcement.

In 2011, Clyde Edwards was hired to jump in the driver’s seat and take Mr. R Sports to the next level and into the future as Creative Director/Buyer. In one short year we accomplished so much as a company and as a brand. As we prepare to wrap up our 39th year in business and prep for our 40th, we wanted to share something special with you.

Established in 1973, Mr. R Sports has become a staple and a go-to spot in Miami for some of the most sought after sneakers and sportswear (so we’ve been told). With our 39-year anniversary right around the corner, we prepare to raise the bar in street culture and retail by opening 1973, a 2800 square foot creative retail space taking pride in the lost art of storytelling. 1973 is a collaborative venture between Mr. R Sports and Sneakerbox, curated and run by @sneakerboxClyde. It is here where we’ll cater to our more lifestyle and fashion forward customers. Built on our foundation, we’ll now have place to work with brands outside of sportswear like Staple, Diamond Supply, Mister, Stussy, G-Shock, Incase, Super, LOOK/SEE, Under 2 Flags, Happy Socks, Incase, Quinton, Herschel Supply and many more. 1973 is scheduled to open this Holiday.
