Under Armour is lighting up the basketball courts in 2012 with the Baltimore brand’s first fresh model of the year: the UA Micro G Torch.
Micro G Torch is built with a lightweight synthetic upper with laser etched perforations for ventilation, molded support panels for support, reflective trim and eyestay, and what UA is calling an overall “Team Reflectivity” story they’re bringing to hoops with all the radiating shine the Torch gives off. An Ortholite sockliner, full-length Micro G foam cushioning, and a TPU midfoot shank plate round out the performance package with a one-piece rubber outsole.
Pick it up first online at UA.com/basketball on August 15, with national in-store retail drop headed to your local UA spots on September 1.
Torch retail price is $89.99, with the following colorways scheduled for availability:
Taxi/Black/Silver, White/Black/Silver, Black/Black/Silver, Red/Black/Silver, Forest Green/Black/Silver, Orange/Black/Silver, Midnight Navy/Black/Silver, Purple/Black/Silver

Well at least this GARBAGE takes color well!!!!!
@TRON45 — Are you a sensible guy? I just can’t understand such comments, really. What is the point of such an aggressive dig? Can you honestly say you’re an objective evaluator? Do you want the shoes to be good and they’re simply not up to your expectations?
I refuse to attack senselessly because 1) I’m not offended that you don’t like the shoe, 2) I have no loyalties to any particular brand, and 3) it obviously would never get anywhere.
Basically, we know that Under Armour has produced some amazing shoes in their foray into the basketball market (namely the Black Ice, Juke, and Bloodline).
I’ll (admittedly) foolishly assume that you’re aware that most acknowledge such breakthroughs in performance. Their brief history suggests both quality in build and dialed in performance. That only leaves aesthetics in question.
I’m guessing they aren’t up to your specifications in the looks department or you’re going to call hyperfuse-rip or something to that effect. It’s amazing what a swoosh will do. Also, a rapper’s approval will do wonders.
Bottom line: these shoes are made to hit the basketball court.
The shoe is good but the colorways are lacking big time!!! I still don’t feel like UA knows how to launch a line. Hopefully we’ll see better colorways. They give their players amazing stuff but leave the basic blah looking stuff for the general public. They are still to team oriented in my mind and need to venture away from “team” colorways.
9 colorways will be released Sept 1st. And quit hatin on UA! , many predict UA will dethrone Nike in a couple of years. Its an amazing up and coming company!
Like i said Mike they are TRASH to me!!! Much love its your opinion to express your self there hoope stuff just has not been progressive enough to me in hoops UA’s
product is just late to the dance in every way Nike and Adidas are SMOKING in hoops they have been there and done that many times over!!!!!!!! But with that being said
i know they have a few new hoop styles that will drop this fall that will finally put them on the map in hoops or at least give them a ”WOW FACTOR” that the hoops product has never had THANK GOD for the department shake up!!!! I look forward to seeing the new stuff.
^I don’t totally disagree with you. I just like to see a brand taking care of business with quality materials and performance. I agree, the wow factor hasn’t been off the charts (and yes, it will be coming), but they’ve managed to release very good performance kicks, with clean (if not spectacular) looks. There are more than a few Nike offerings that haven’t lived up to their price tags when it comes to performance/materials. Strip away branding and go into the process blind, and I think many are singing a different tune. All good, though.
For under $100, you get some nice details, that dot pattern is nice and it’s got 3M. Put a jumpman on it, double the price and people would go nuts for it. It’s a basic team shoe, but the UAs I’ve had play nice. Looking forward to the whole line.
UA take over Nike in a few years???? Are you serious. You do realize that 95% of all Bball shoes sold are either Jordan or Nike right. You do realize that Nike soccer alone did what the entire UA company did right. Nike still needs to stay on their game but it will take far more than “a few years” for UA to pass Nike, if ever.
Yeah I’m posting what I hear from daily news. I will agree with u that Nike/Jordan does control pretty much the whole basketball market. UA is already the best performance apparel on the market, u gotta admit that. I love their shoes they just have to make a better name for themselves. Its a FAST growing company but its gonna take at least 5 years to dethrone the biggest name on the market
$90 is a steal. I wish stores in my area sold under armor shoes so I could at east try them on. Never really liked buying a shoe online to play in without trying them on first.
These look nice & I prolly will pick them up! I have countless shoes, with UA being the least in my collection(I have the Micro G Black Ice, Bloodline, Supersonic & Prototype II Double Nickel which I wish they’d release more colorways of).
I have the Kobe VII’s, Crazylight 2′s & many more previous releases. I think UA shoes are just as good if not better. They are really comfy & none have hurt my feet. The Kobe VII hurts the side of my(the outer area just before toes) feet & the Crazylight II’s are tight just around the bridge of my feet(just before toes). I have to say that the Crazylight II’s are extremely light(I wasn’t sure if the shoes were in the box when they arrived, lol) but I’m not too crazy on the material & not sure how durable it is?
I’m looking forward to trying these and the new Brandon Jennings model(I’m sure like all their previous kicks they’ll be cosy as Funk).
With Nike’s rape prices I wouldn’t be surprised to see a shift in sales but UA needs to keep’em down!
I believe from my experience that UA basketball shoes are high quality, long lasting shoes. I had the bloodline shoes for all of basketball season and 3 months afterwards. After the season I wore them everywhere, not just in the gym. Eventually, I grew out of them, however they were still wearable.
