The Blazers drafted Damian Lillard to be the slashing-scorer-in-a-point-guard’s-body the team desperately needed. A Derrick Rose-type player, if you will.

So far, so similar.

He’s averaging 16 points, 2.5 boards, and 5.5 assists in four preseason starts, interestingly close to Rose’s rookie preseason numbers of 13.9, 2.5, and 5.

While we wait to see if the Lillard/Rose parallels continue to play out, the Blazers rookie will continue to make the case. Helps that he wears Derrick’s adidas Rose 773 shoe.
