NIKEiD Gave Me A LeBron X Diamond To Play With And I Put Lucy In The Sky

You’re not 6 feet, 8 inches tall. You don’t weigh 250 pounds. You probably can’t dunk. You can barely dribble. You don’t even own a headband.

That’s okay.

You can still look like a pro baller and feel like royalty thanks to NIKEiD and the just unveiled Nike LeBron X iD.

NIKEiD allows you to dig through 11 custom stages to find your perfect diamond motif for Bron’s 10th signature shoe. Zoom bag, Hyperfuse upper, Dynamic flywire cables: they’re all yours to craft and colorup.

With a NIKEiD issued promo code in hand to mix up my own pair on the King’s house and demonstrate to the world, I started with the brightest color for the body base of the shoe: Atomic Green. It’s the closest in shade to easily my most favorite color in the Nike universe, the eye-shockingly bright “Volt.” Atomic Green is a little bit duller in shade, and of course tilts more towards green than our yellow favored graphics around here. But still pretty close. So without a Volt upper option to set the tone, Atomic Green was a given. But how do you create a story?

The entire concept of the LeBron X revolves around the diamond. It’s Bron’s 10th anniversary of the Nike endorsement partnership. Every retail in-line colorway has a diamond studded story. I wanted to stay in theme, get a bright colored shoe, and connect all the dots.

A refrain started hitting me:

Cellophane flowers of yellow and green
Towering over your head.
Look for the girl with the sun in her eyes
And she’s gone.

I incorporated a couple of the bright Volt options that were available for this NIKEiD shoe which wrapped the translucent rubber bottom and served as speckling on the midsole. An Atomic Teal tongue served up a fresh bouquet of green, towering over the top of your feet. I smothered the entire midsole with Pink Flash-tinted marmalade and served up Pink Flash accenting on the rest of the shoe.

NIKEiD allows a “Collar iD” phrase stage option, with an eight character max out. I put “LUCY IN” on my left shoe, and “THE SKY” on the right.

And I’m gone.

Get the inspiration yet? I’ll run it again on the next post for the “unboxing” phase. But you can play this…

A short few years ago, the thought of owning your own Player Edition signature shoe was left to dreams and super high priced eBay auctions. And the shoe wasn’t even truly your own. That’s all changed now with NIKEiD bringing in top shelf silhouettes like the LeBron X, Hyperdunk 2012, and Kobe and KD lines that you can detail down to exactly the way you want them to look. Individually cut. Fit for a King. Or fit for you.

Create your own Nike LeBron X iD now at NIKEiD.

UPDATE: Here’s the unboxing and what the “Lucys” actually look like

Great concept. I dont’ much care for the color mash up used but that’s why they are yours and not mine. Great job though. Can’t wait to see what these look like during the unboxing. No matter what these look like you can’t beat free!

Thanks JR! I wanted a bright colored LeBron X and since none of the in-line releases so far have gone that route in a yellow-ish shade, I was going to order up a pair anyways early last week. This just happened to work out nicely. The NIKEiD options are dope, the Pink Flash midsole with speckling is the best thing they have on there IMO. I just wish I could choose to get a Volt lacelock. I haven’t seen any production pairs using the Atomic Green upper so I’m looking forward to seeing the shade in person too. As part of the NIKEiD promo, us and other media sites are supposed to be getting pairs early rushed ahead of the normal 3-4 week window so should have finished photos soon…

@Jonathan Dope! There isn’t any South Beach X planned as of right now (http://counterkicks.com/2012/10/south-beach-isnt-coming-to-the-nike-lebron-x/) so those should be cool to see. Send us some pics when you get them in. Order confirms started going out today for a lot of people…

@Airsyd Haha. It fits with the diamond theme…Nike shoulda done one of their own like this! But I guess that’s what NIKEiD is for — make exactly what you want yourself. I’ve been waiting for the bright bright Xs! And kids, please stay off the drugs… No LSD was involved in the creation of this shoe! lol
