I don’t think that I’ve ever seen a player that wanted fame so badly, crash and burn as quickly as Gil. I mean Steve Francis fell hard quick, but Gil simply got worse, and then even worse. I don’t really know, but it seems that he didn’t rehab properly after his injuries, and his confidence was shot from all the off court stuff, of which was replaced with bravado like this “sneaker champ” crap.
This is why being a fundamentally sound basketball player, then being known for having a complete game, beats anything that hype can offer.
