Blame It On Dwyane

We might never see Converse on an NBA court again. And it could be Dwyane Wade’s fault.

His teammate Udonis Haslem had been the last Converse man standing, holding onto his Sicks shoe early this season while other Cons athletes like Lou Williams and Kirk Hinrich have well settled into their Nikes. UD may have donned his Cons for the final time against Cleveland on November 24. He showed up the next game against the Spurs in white and red Li-Nings, and in black and red Li-Nings against Brooklyn on December 1.

Maybe Udonis just found a Li-Ning shoe he really liked and decided to try them out for a few games. Or permanently.

Or maybe Li-Ning Way of Wade-wearing Dwyane nudged him to “Make The Change.”

Either way, looks like Converse has retired from NBA ball until further notice.

Check out UD’s recent sneaker transition in the slideshow.

Sad day for a 105 year old icon. From now on, the brand is a Dead-Style Chuck Taylor maker. Get your Converse MVPs while they are still available. There may never be another performance shoe with the Converse name again. By the way, major trivia answers: Udonis Haslem; Converse Sicks; November 24, 2012

I think Glenn Davis is still wearing Converse. It’s sad to see Converse fading out of basketball.
