When your name is Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and you’re preparing for a major UFC fight, you need shoes to keep up with your demanding training schedule. For a full contact combat sport like Mixed Martial Arts, the brand new Reebok ATV 19+ (launching February 1 for $140) provides a striking visual aesthetic and is the shoe Rampage has chosen to train with leading up to his nationally televised Saturday night fight in the Octagon against Glover Teixeira.
Opening up to media this past week in Chicago, the kind folks at Reebok and their press agency (thanks, JS) invited CounterKicks to the freezing-cold-this-time-of-year-Windy-City to hang, chat, and train with Rampage Jackson and unveil the “All-Terrain Vehicle” inspired Reebok ATV 19+.
What makes the shoe so unique looking are the oversized, irregular lugs seen underfoot which Reebok says is “designed to rip mud, snow, sand, and grass out of the way.” A mixed arts shoe, if you will.
This isn’t the 19th generation of the ATV shoe, either. The name was chosen because the ATV prominently features exactly 19 of those irregular lugs fitted on the sole.
Bill McInnis, Reebok Head of Advanced Innovation, tells us at the Chicago launch event there’s 19 lugs because that’s exactly the most they could fit in this particular configuration.
“The oversized lugs on the sole of the shoe give the runner unparalleled ability to power through any terrain,” McInnis added.
Reebok ATV 19+ is designed to be used on all surfaces and the new lug technology on the shoe is near certain to command attention from onlookers.
We shot photos, videos, and one-on-one interviews with both Rampage Jackson and Bill McInnis on the new Reebok ATV 19+ giving you every angle to dive into.
