Space City is getting it’s appropriate aeronautical due when the NBA blasts into town next month.
adidas and the NBA have today unveiled the on-court uniforms and affiliated apparel for the 2013 NBA All-Star Game, hosted this year at the Toyota Center in Houston, TX.
“The NBA All-Star Game is an exciting time to unite adidas’ line of performance and style products to celebrate the court-to-street style that runs through basketball culture around the world,” Lawrence Norman, adidas Vice President Global Basketball, said in a press release.
“2013 marks adidas’ sixth season designing NBA All-Star uniforms and every year we look forward to introducing performance innovations that help the best basketball players in the world lift off and take their games to the next level in front of a global audience.”
With Houston’s deep aeronautical history serving as muse, the new 2013 NBA All-Star jerseys sport breathable engineered mesh and an impact camo pattern which adidas says “evokes the world’s fastest fleet of aircraft with the classic silhouette of a basketball net.”
adidas three-stripe branding is again prominent, draping down the sides of both the jersey top and shorts for the East and West. The numbers and lettering depicted on the Houston All-Star threads derive inspiration from the stenciled style used on jet planes.
In addition to the game time goodness above, the NBA All-Stars will carry some additional flash in these get-ups:
Players will take to the court in black-and-white aviator-style NBA All-Star warm-ups featuring metal zippers made with a similar anodized finish used on airplanes. Each player’s jacket will be customized to represent individual career accomplishments such as NBA All-Star Game appearances and All-Star MVP awards, NBA titles, in addition to regular season awards and Scoring Championships
The adidas designed 2013 NBA All-Star jerseys will be sold on NBAStore.com along with the full range of NBA All-Star related gear for Houston. This year’s game is set to lift off on February 17, 2013.
