Now that December 2012 is officially in the books and the returning weekly data has been received, chief industry analyst Matt Powell of SportsOneSource has posted the top selling shoes of the final month of the year.
The big winner and expected king is obviously the juggernaut 500,000 pairs produced Air Jordan 11 “Bred” release.
This being a top sellers list ranked by total dollar amount sold in the US, Air Jordan retros are consistent staples with their high retail price and immediate sell-thru.
So Air Jordan 9 Retro “Cool Grey,” Air Jordan 4 Retro “Thunder,” and Air Jordan 4 Retro “Black Cement” are all here.
End of year also means cold weather in the US and the classic 6-inch Timberland boot makes a routine appearance.
Rounding out the rest of the top handful of top selling sneakers for December 2012 is like looking at the top sellers for any other month.
These are the tried-and-true moneymakers throughout the year for Nike: Air Force 1 Low in white on white (don’t let winter stop you), Air Monarch IV (a low-priced, high-moving Swoosh franchise line), and the follow up to the best selling sequel version, the Nike Free Run+ 3.
Powell also adds that of the top 250 ranked footwear styles in dollar terms, the brand breakdown goes like this:
Nike — 129 styles
Jordan Brand — 42 styles
Asics — 14 styles
