The mind is powerful. And can be pretty persuasive when you see what you want to see.
That’s how a stray stratocumulus cloud becomes a gopher or the pleasant bank teller gal becomes a siren longing to date you. Or B-roll footage becomes the next dope sneaker release.
Folks scouring the online sneaker scene today no doubt came across breathless posts essentially sewing up a 2013 release of the Air Jordan 3 in Black/Cement with Nike Air billboarded on the heel. The notion of such a release appears to have been sparked by a passing glance of the shoe, as seen above, halfway through ESPN’s recently aired “Gotta Be The Shoes” salute to MJ for his 50th birthday. But doesn’t that mean any shoe the mini doc showed up close is on the release schedule? Of course. Unless they aren’t.
We contacted Jordan Brand to find out whether or not the Black/Cement 3s in some people’s minds will soon be on some people’s feet.
No plans to release those, Jordan Brand tells us.
Yes, tough to hear. After the huge 25th anniversary Air Jordan 3 Retro ’88 White/Cement bringback last Wednesday, and the infinite demand for it unable to be sated by finite supply, it’s probably easy to want to wish a similar Black/Cement drop into existence.
Just remember to keep that imagination on a leash from now on. Your heart will thank you.
