When humans are faced with a problem, the search for a solution usually follows.

Ektio recognized ankle sprains and injuries are the problem. Their Breakaway basketball shoe is the best solution I have seen. But are they for the average consumer?

***

When I was contacted last year to test the Ektio Post Up, I was immediately skeptical. Yeah, the premise sounded great, but what shoe could really live up to the claims made? None that I had found yet. I believed “higher shoes prevent ankle rolls” and that mid-cuts are more stable for knees. Now studies say that low tops are just as good at support as any shoe. We know it isn’t the height but the fit and base of a shoe that matters. Just by looking at the Post Up you know the ankle locks in, and with the roll pods stability is no question. But any shoe this strapped and locked has to be bulky, right? Well, to my surprise they worked. Worked great. But the price and flexibility of the shoe both left something to be desired from the general public. Again, problem = solution. With a new mesh upper and lower price, the Breakaway is the answer, and it is just that good.

I really like the seriousness of Ektio, and the improvements sound impressive.

Nice review as always. It’s good to know about Etkio’s improvement for this year. I still don’t understand that if traditional herringbone work that good, why only a few models in the market is made that way.
