Kobe snapped his left Achilles. No, it wasn’t the fault of his Kobe 8 Elites. Blame 17 years of hardcore training and extraordinary effort on the court. Blame age, a well-worn 34 (he turns 35 in August). Blame his underachieving — and somewhat ailing, to be fair — Lakers who needed every sacrifice he could muster just to pull out a home win to continue white-knuckling the 8th seed in the West. His 34 points in his “Home” Elites will likely be the last points and Kobe Elites we’ll see from number 24 for awhile.
Meanwhile in Miami and Portland, LeBron and KD took the opportunity to help complete the night’s Nike marketing offensive, dropping 20 and 16 respectively in the LeBron X PS Elite and KD V Elite. Like Kobe, both stars’ squads got wins. Unlike Kobe, they’re both still healthy and looking forward to meeting again in the NBA Finals.
