NBA Kicks: Elite Trio Is Elite

kobe

Kobe snapped his left Achilles. No, it wasn’t the fault of his Kobe 8 Elites. Blame 17 years of hardcore training and extraordinary effort on the court. Blame age, a well-worn 34 (he turns 35 in August). Blame his underachieving — and somewhat ailing, to be fair — Lakers who needed every sacrifice he could muster just to pull out a home win to continue white-knuckling the 8th seed in the West. His 34 points in his “Home” Elites will likely be the last points and Kobe Elites we’ll see from number 24 for awhile.

Meanwhile in Miami and Portland, LeBron and KD took the opportunity to help complete the night’s Nike marketing offensive, dropping 20 and 16 respectively in the LeBron X PS Elite and KD V Elite. Like Kobe, both stars’ squads got wins. Unlike Kobe, they’re both still healthy and looking forward to meeting again in the NBA Finals.

*ahem*

For someone who tells other players that they are going to get” injured” by wearing certain shoes, this wasn’t a good look for Kobe Bryant. Not that his shoes caused this injury, most likely not, but after all the banter between he and Dwight, the firing of Mike Brown, and all the drama in Lakerland, this ending could not have been any more enjoyable for those who do not like the “black mamba”, myself included.

Now I look forward to a playoffs not filled with “look at how Kobe is carrying the lakers!”.

Team basketball for the win!

If u dont like kobe then i guess u dont like nba basketball, mj carried the bulls, magic carried the lakers when the showtime group aint producing together with kareem, isiah thomas carried the pistons when they needed baskets. Thats the nba,its a league built by stars, designed for stars. U dont have a star u wont win a ring.even the pistons needed a rasheed and billups to carry a win. If u dont like that go watch college ball. Thats the game more suited for. Stop hating. Start respecting, u dont know how much work a person put in their game for people like u to just disrespect.

This shoe will be iconic and if this shoe will be the last kobe would wear i bet this will be the best selling kobe’s ever. Respect for mj who played with a flu but more respect for kobe that took 3different kinds of injury in his last game this season before he walk out. Hear me!? I said 3 injuries in one game! He might not be the best to ever play but even mj will tell u today that kobe is the toughest player EVER to play basketball! Speedy recovery kobe n lets rock more kobe shoes!!!!

Hey baller , just to add, kobe hit 2 3pointers while he was hurt in that game to get it close and when he tore his achilles he took 2 freethrows first before leaving the game.8 points to get the lakers back in the game, agree he is the toughest NBA player that played thegame…. PERiOD.

On the one hand, fans of Kobe Bryant do not want comparisons to Jordan due to Micheal’s career accomplishments, especially in the playoffs and then finals. It’s hard to suggest that Kobe is just like Jordan, when Jordan increased his personal overall averages during the post season, then also with his teams never losing an NBA Finals. Kobe fans will suggest that comparisons are unfair, is Jordan is indeed the best due to this excellence.

However on the other hand, Kobe fans, those who exist within that ever persistent, impenetrable bubble, love to make the attempt to suggest that there must be something, some stat, as to where Kobe Bryant is superior to Jordan.

So now we see the “toughness” card being pulled.

As if playing with injury in this day and age, is somehow noble.

Mikan playing with a broken leg back in the day doesn’t count, right? Because Kobe is tougher…even though George Mikan, who didn’t have the medical advancements that Mr Bryant enjoys today, of whom by the way flies in a helicopter to practice, Kobe Bryant should be lauded due to his willingness to play through pain, when others had no other choice in doing so.

Those Kobe fans, really need to get a grip.

If Kobe Bryant were to act in the locker room back in the day as he did with Dwight this year, talking so much, against a player like Maurice Lucas, even Willis Reed, or Bill Russell, you would not have lauded his so called toughness, you’d probably question why he’s taken the court with a tampon stuck in his rear.

Good riddance, and back to team basketball.

Russell has eleven, count’em, eleven rings.

If you want to use rings as the barometer of “toughness”, Kobe Bryant still loses as the “toughest”.

Kobe never had to deal with the mental anguish of a Russell, while dealing with racists in Boston, and other cities in segregated America.

So do you really want to talk about toughness?

Or do you really want to discuss looking “foolish”?

Colorado. Stupid choices.

We can go on, your choice, but you will lose every, single, time.

BTW, these shoes in this color scheme, suck a tree branch in the dead middle of winter. It’s like Kobe got hurt in the ugliest make up, just on GP.

So again, good riddance.

So again, you lose.

Here’s to the “walking boot” completing “the Kobe System”.

the breds comment was hilarious haha

mede – kobe does not need to be the greatest or compared to the greatest for me to like him. as i see it, he thinks like he is destined for greatness and he is working his ass off to just do that. sure he is an sshole teammate off court, sure he pads his stats, but he did give me (and a lot of other people) a hell of a show for the past 17 years.

All hail the conceited , youngest, closest, greatest, most successful “carbon copy” of the greatest basketball player that ever lived. Kobe “jelly bean” bryant !! He is Jordan with out the gravity acrobatics in air. but he try’s and is closest to the man with every thing else pay homage you would to if you had the god given abilitys and genetics .

@ Mede, you sound like someone I know :) long time no see/hear, lol!

Guys, there’s just no winning this argument about who’s the greatest between MJ and Kobe. MJ def has done and won “more”, but Kobe has indeed put in a fair amount of effort in trying to catch him. It’s been fun seeing him, and now Lebron, try.

Essentially that’s what it’s all about; the chase to be the best. And credit has to be given when its due.

As far as character, both are known to be less-than-cordial, to put it lightly (MJ’s tirades against his teamamtes, including denying someone of his dinner cos “he didn’t deserve it”, is well-documented. Kobe…well, lets just say the “Mamba”, corny as it is, is probably an apt description); I call a draw, lol :)

If you watch any tv or listen to just about anything without good context/perspective but remain an objective person searching for something closer to the truth, Mede’s take is very refreshing. Only someone wanting facts out of the way would deny.

Yup, I can’t afford Kobe’s shoe.

While sitting here in my chicken coop, then using dial up, I am just so sad that I’ll never be able to wear the sig shoe of an anti social ballhog.

I must admit, it’s really fun watching these Kobe fans admitting that they “cried” when his injury occurred.

I guess we can call the shoe that he got injured in the MRI’s

Hey, I have no problem with “not” affording plastic Nike shoes….no shame there.

Question is, who should be able to?

Who is stupid enough to buy a plastic shoe for 200 bucks plus, then thinking that they have something of true value?

I know, I know, KOBE fans do.

Scratch that, I laud Nike for their efforts, as they have the perfect foil.

Bravo!
