If you were born in the ’70s or early ’80s, you pretty much came of age when Starter was churning out ridiculously popular jackets, coats, and pull-overs (which was the kind I had — a black, white and red Bulls with the kangaroo zip pocket in the front. Still have it. Nineteen hundred ninety, you are missed). All the cool kids, some minimally cool kids and a few uncools had one version or another, and they wore them as a badge of honor every day to the bus stop, to the mall, to parties, to wherever you needed to keep warm and, most importantly, people could see the big satiny fabric applique of your squad’s logo plastered on.
Those days are a good 20 years behind us now but Starter is alive and well, back with an array of team options for its famous Satin Jacket. The folks at Foot Locker sent along a Baltimore Ravens edition for me to check out and it brings back some great memories. The quilted, plush lining, shiny exterior, the Starter star logo at the wrist for an extra dose of official. Almost makes you wish you could time travel back to being a sixth grader, as long as no math tests are waiting for you when you arrive.
But why spend all that money on plutonium when you can grab one of these jackets much cheaper and show your buddies today that your team still rules.
The Starter Satin Jacket is available now in multiple NBA teams now at Foot Locker stores and at FootLocker.com. Look for additional sports and teams over the coming weeks.
