Duke University and the University of North Carolina are separated by a scant 11 miles and roughly 25 minutes of driving time, a stretch formally known as Durham-Chapel Hill Boulevard, informally as Tobacco Road. The rivalry between the schools is decades-long, mostly driven by bragging rights and state pride, partly driven by the fact that most college hate each other. How close both campuses are to each other no doubt helps things fester, too.
But FILA is uniting these one-uppers, if only briefly, with the Tobacco Road Pack – Duke alum Grant Hill’s FILA 96 in blue suede, North Carolina alum Jerry Stackhouse’s FILA Spaghetti in white and Tar Heel blue.
