Some Guy Picks The ANTA Rondo 1 Apart For Us

Use ← → (arrow) keys for new photos & posts

The Rajon Rondo-ANTA press conference and shoe unveil isn’t even one week old and Zhang Yi-day already has the shoe in pieces. Which is good, because we need to know what kind of materials are going to be wrapped around RR’s feet when he returns to the Celtics lineup this season (if the Celtics don’t carry out a not-so-stealth plan to tank for Wiggins). So first off, thank you, Zhang.

As with any dissection photo set, we get to see stitches unstitched, overlays pulled back, stuff snipped, clipped and torn, and tooling sheared in half. Sometimes all that action just yields views of stuff you expected to see. In the case of the Rondo 1, we get a couple surprises in that the shoe does in fact boast an inner bootie fit, which should help Rondo in the comfort department, and it has an embedded TPU shank, which should mitigate torsion a bit. There are also strips of a smoky translucent material sandwiched into the lateral side of the forefoot midsole. Doesn’t seem to run the width of the crash pad so the impact protection capability of this mystery gel is unclear at the moment.

Anyway, peruse the dissection pics ahead to see the ANTA Rondo 1’s nitty gritty and report your thoughts back to us below.

They look great, nicely padded, construction on-point, and to the point, great shoes, for a quick, and maneuvrable player.

That “mystery gel” is Anta’s “A-Jelly”, featured on KG’s line, along with a bunch of Anta’s other shoes. Looks like a shoe that will get the job done. Not going to reinvent the wheel, but unique enough to applaud the design and a decent first effort at a sig shoe IMO.

The purpose of these photos is to show the ins and outs of the Rondo 1, the exact same model that debuted at the ANTA press conference.

If you have proof that his game shoe will be radically different in material composition from the retail release, as you expressed, then post that. If not, the comment removal stands.

You are wrong Yale. The model Rondo was holding at the press conference was his version. As well as the official pictures they released.

This version shown is not that same model. This is the model that will be available to the public, which is seen on Anta’s website…which is DIFFERENT then the model at the press release. The construction is different as well as some design details, and upgraded materials.

Have fun deleting this as well.

By “exact same model” I meant and mean same aesthetics, layout. Your enthusiasm points out the need for this clarity.

Yes, there are differences between this version and the one unveiled/officially photographed. It was apparent well before this post, in which I stated “we need to know what kind of materials.” Kind, as in “ballpark idea,” not kind as in “here’s a shoe directly from Rondo’s locker.” I intended the former, you inferred the latter.

Just shout if I can provide any further clarification.

No, I wasn’t, actually.

Just because someone and his co-opted buddy from Portland (IP addresses 24.22.113.148 and 24.20.127.101), hiding behind a made-up name and email address, wants to parse text for the purpose of taking a dump in the comment section doesn’t give them the right to do so.

And please explain what an “ngr” is before your comment is removed. Thanks.
