Everyone remembers Ray Allen’s Game 6 dagger three in the 2013 Finals. It saved Miami’s season, pretty much ended San Antonio’s season on the spot, and propelled the Heat to a Game 7 title clincher and the franchise’s third title in seven years.
But Ray’s former teammate Jeff Green got the opportunity to put his stamp on that very corner with a huge shot of his own on Saturday night.
With the Celtics trailing by two with 0.6 on the clock, Green caught a cross-court inbounds from Gerald Wallace, sprung upwards and launched a buzzer beater over LeBron James for a 111-110 victory on the Heat.
Granted, it was an early November regular season game without a second consecutive NBA title at stake but a big boost for a Celtics team expected to be in the running for Kansas Jayhawks scorer Andrew Wiggins in the 2014 NBA Draft.
Green, wearing the Jordan Prime.Fly, made good on coach Brad Stevens switching him to shooting guard with 24 points, five rebounds, two assists and one block, including 5 of 8 from behind the arc.
