Kobe Bryant’s return on Sunday night didn’t immediately reassert his dominance, net his middling team a win (thanks to Toronto scoring 106 points to L.A.’s 94), or debut the hightop, Flyknitted Nike Kobe 9 in a regular season game.
It did, however, mark the Lakers star’s first NBA game in 241 days, result in a workman stat line of nine points, eight rebounds, four assists and two steals in 28 minutes, and debut the Nike Zoom Kobe 1 Prelude that released on Saturday.
“My rhythm is completely out of sync,” Bryant said postgame. “But this is a start, and I guess a start is good.”
Bryant’s choice of the Kobe 1 for his return sets him up to burn through a rotation of Kobe Prelude Pack shoes over the coming weeks as the Lakers legend works his way toward the February release of the Kobe 9.
