This year’s BBVA Compass Rising Stars Challenge, aka the game where last year’s rookies and this year’s rookies battle it out, was another contest of dunks, one-on-one, and approximately zero defense played.
And it was great.
Detroit Pistons center Andre Drummond took home the MVP trophy, thanks to a monster performance of 30 points and 25 rebounds to pace Team Hill to a 142-136 win over Team Webber, which was led by Tim Hardaway Jr’s 36 points and 7-16 shooting from the arc.
But we’re here for the kicks and the array zipping the court didn’t disappoint.
From the Nike Zoom HyperRev on Drummond and rookie standout Michael Carter-Williams, to Victor Oladipo’s Air Jordan XX8 SE, to Damian Lillard’s adidas Crazy 1 “All Star,” Harrison Barnes’ adidas Crazy Fast 2.0 “Warriors,” Trey Burke’s blue Nike Air Flightposite Exposed, Kelly Olynyk’s green Nike Zoom Crusader to Giannis Antetokounmpo’s now-old school red Nike Zoom Hyperfuse, the sneaker selections were on point.
The NBA is in great hands for the future. Should be some great basketball played along the way, too.
