adidas today launched the Pure Boost, the first adidas shoe with an entire midsole of Boost cushioning. The brand’s proprietary cushioning has been paired with a minimalist stretch upper that was developed by top designers from adidas’ Sport Performance, Y-3, and Originals categories, aimed at achieving a style both versatile and ultimately comfortable.

“This visually stunning shoe is the purest iteration of Boost,” said James Carnes, global creative director of performance at adidas, through press release. “With Pure Boost, we designed the shoe to be stripped down to its rawest form and to highlight the innovative technology in a totally clean and modern look.”

Carnes continued, “The fresh silhouette and simple upper make Pure Boost a blank canvas for you to combine with any outfit.”

Pure Boost weighs in a a scant 8.3 ounces for guys, a feathery 6.3 ounces for gals, with what adidas calls a “breathable four-way stretch seamless upper and no sockliner to enhance the feeling of standing directly on Boost cushioning.” The heel of the Pure Boost employs Tirrenina microfiber suede, manufactured without any solvents, for a contrasting design feel while providing stabilization.

The adidas Pure Boost releases in mens and womens colorways on Wednesday, May 14 to adidas.com, adidas Sport Performance stores, as well as Footlocker.com, Foot Locker, Lady Foot Locker, and SIX:02 brick and mortar stores. Take an in-depth look ahead at the Pure Boost in product shots and on the feet of new adidas signees Sammy Watkins and Carlos Hyde.

Got them in today. Very very VERY comfortable and the boost is still bouncy. The upper is completely stretch. Good looks, adi.

Duke — did you stay with the same size as the regular energy boost?

They sent me a 10.5 – same as the 2M. The upper is very very forgiving – you could go half down and never know it. Seriously had shades of the Nike Presto from years back. Love the feel.

Urriah – to answer your questions on the other board – yes on the commando thing. They don’t have the words “techfit” on them, but the upper is a stretch lycra/techfit feel, although there are no support overlays except for the laces and stripes. The suede is a really nice feel – that old-school nappy suede, not smooth and glued.
