NBA Kicks: Gone In 49.2 Seconds

How do you erase a seven-point deficit in 49.2 seconds? Easy. Get Kevin Durant to hit a three and convert a flubbed possession into a sweeping layup, then have Russell Westbrook force a turnover, get fouled on the three-point attempt and can all three free throws. A Chris Paul fumble as he clock runs out and job’s done. That’s pretty much how Game 5 of the Clippers-Thunder series played out Tuesday night, possibly putting OKC on the brink of the Western Conference Finals with their improbable 105-104 win and L.A.’s season 48 minutes from the fishing dock.

Westbrook capped his late-game heroics with a playoff career high 38 points in the Air Jordan XX9 “OKC Home,” while Durant’s 27 points, 10 rebounds, five assists, one steal and one block in his standard Nike KD VIs provided the all-around attack that kept the Thunder within striking distance, setting up the game’s unlikely final moments. Game 6 goes down on Thursday night at Staples Center, 10:30 EST on ESPN.
