A collaboration between Hickies and artists from the Pictoplasma creative community, Pungas are 3D printed accessories that flip the looks of any sneaker and can be affixed to Hickies laces as well as different parts of the shoe. Simultaneously, Pungas serve to turn “sneaker design into an open source platform” by teaming with 3D printing marketplace Shapeways.

Pungas project has already surpassed its $15,000 pledge goal on Kickstarter with just over one week to go, ensuring that designers will be able to create their own 3D printed designs through to become sneaker accessory designs.

Take a look at a selection of Pungas in the gallery ahead, then you can head over the Kickstarter to pledge support for designs created by Pictoplasma artists. Or submit your own ideas.

Just the capability to use 3D printing for customization like this is pretty sweet, in my opinion.
