The Charlotte Hornets took another step forward in their rebirth today with the unveiling of their uniform kit for the 2014-15 NBA season. The franchise’s classic teal and purple color combination is front and center in the new set, which displays the team’s new wordmarks and logos in a sleek, modernized layout. Like the branding, the uniform designs are a result of collaboration between the Hornets, owner Michael Jordan’s namesake Jordan Brand division of Nike, and the NBA’s Global Merchandising Group.
Key elements from the original 1988 Hornets uniform include striping, the crossover style collar, and flat Hornets logo on the waistband. Purple now serves as the road colorway, moving the teal-based uniform to alternate status. The Hornets say this lineup enables the teal option to be used for both home and away games.
