With Griffin’s insight and feedback, a team of Jordan Brand design creatives put the performance pieces together, using Griffin’s explosive, high-flying game as the project’s horizon point.
Game tested and refined to help Griffin “jump even higher, with greater explosiveness,” Super.Fly 3’s evolved Flight Plate provided foundation with an added tendril for a more even footstrike and the ancillary benefit of boosting energy return for the Nike Zoom cushioning in the forefoot.
“For the Jordan Super.Fly 3, I really wanted a shoe that allowed me to gain an explosive edge on court – with speed and my lift,” said Griffin via Jordan Brand. “I really like that Flight Plate not only makes me feel more powerful throughout the game, but also gives me confidence when I’m taking flight.”
As with any great performance sneaker, the details work together for the greater good. For Super.Fly 3 that means touches like an Air Jordan XX9-derived outsole pattern for multi-directional traction, synthetic overlays throughout the toe and heel areas to strengthen fit, and feathery textile material around the quarter panels for a tough, durable hide.
The upper in effect visually interprets Blake Griffin’s game — the sonic boom. It hosts a reverberating wave and line pattern that adds depth to virtually any colorway and conveys the shoe’s overarching inspiration. Under this vibrant skin sits Flight Web, a placement of webbed straps that work with the laces to cinch the midfoot. An inner sleeve and padded Achilles notch round out the comfort appointments.
Find the Jordan Super.Fly 3 in two colorways starting Wednesday, October 1 at Jordan.com and Jordan Brand retailers worldwide for $140 per.
